Erma Carter, 1st Lady

Sis. Erma Carter is a native of Portsmouth Virginia. She is married to her high school sweetheart for the past 46 years, Pastor Cordell Carter Sr. also of Portsmouth. She has been a Pastor’s wife for the past 17 years, assisting her husband in the ministry. She has three adult children (Pamela Bennett (Tony) of Woodbridge, VA, Cordell Carter II (Gersande) of Bethesda, MD, and Tramaine Walton (Stephen) of Portsmouth, VA., and four grandchildren.

She was saved in the Church of God in Christ, and has been a member of this church for the past 46 years. 1 st Lady Carter is a licensed Evangelist Missionary with the North Carolina 2nd Ecclesiastical Jurisdiction under the leadership and direction of Bishop Stenneth E. Powell and State Supervisor Patricia D. Lofton. She is currently assigned to the Richmond Metropolitan District here in Virginia.

She is a firm believer in the phrase that “whatsoever your hands find to do, do it heartily as unto the Lord.” She has worked, and continues to work in the kitchen, church clean-up committee person, youth coordinator, choir member, Women’s ministry, door-to-door outreach ministry, praise & worship leader, and cook for our Community feeding project.

Evangelist Missionary Carter loves the Lord, and the service of the Lord. Some of her favorite things to do is travelling, attending church conferences, and shopping.

By occupation she is an License Practical Nurse, and has been for the past 42 years. She is gladly looking forward to retirement and working full-time in the ministry.
